At the start of the 2020-2021 school year, the TuaRes students in the Project Wazamsé Sunshine program were pleasantly surprised to meet their new teacher, former Sunshine student and current University scholar Véronique Koanda.
Véronique was a student in the TuaRes Project Neerwaya for a number of years and excelled in the Sunshine program. We were so pleased when she applied for the TuaRes university scholarship to study English at the University of Ouagadougou.
Véronique has always been a positive, engaging individual with a passion for English and learning. During her bachelor’s degree years, amidst the studying and exams, Véronique was a constant presence at the TuaRes activities. She helped at Camp Yennenga, spoke to younger cohorts about university, and was available during outings and activities.
As a former Sunshine student, Véronique knows the importance and the joy of a Sunshine classroom. Her first year as a teacher was a great success. The other teachers, including her former teacher Mr. Ouedraogo, welcomed her and gave valuable advice. While the TuaRes Pedagogical Advisor helped Véronique fine-tune her teaching style during her first year as well.
It is a great joy to see the path that each individual TuaRes student chooses for herself, and we are so pleased that Véronique’s journey has led to back to TuaRes serving as a role model, teacher, and friend to the students and organization.
