Our academic interventions are based in existing public and private schools. These partnerships help to strengthen parent associations, build teacher and administration capacity, and widen the reach of our impact.
Our holistic programs are divided into two main categories: School Support and Post School Support.
Financial and Material Support School fees, a daily lunch canteen, school kits, hygiene kits, and solar lamps.
Psycho-social Support A trained social worker is based at each of our project sites to provide daily guidance and support.
Academic Support Our courses help girls get the individualized attention they need to find success.
Sensitization programs Topics range from effective communication skills, proper hygiene, sexual abuse awareness, sexual to reproductive health.
Reading and Exploration With our on-site libraries, there are organized reading activities and a check out system. Each of our sites also has education games and computer lab open hours.
Eye exams All new beneficiaries receive eye exams to ensure they do not have any disabilities that may impede up on their studies
Emergency Fund In the case of more serious illnesses, we have set up an emergency fund that will allow us to provide financial support if the parents can not afford a treatment.
Girls Tech Our computer literacy program is focused on enabling the TuaRes girls to become digital citizens by emphasizing computer manipulation, online safety, research tools, and the fundamentals of coding and development. Learn more.
Sunshine Though English is offered in regular classes, we use these classes as an opportunity to focus on listening and speaking abilities, while introducing the English-speaking world. Learn more.
Camp Yennenga The summer camp is open to the girls at or near the top of their class. The aim of the camp is to emphasize practical education and to promote self-esteem.
Thematic Weeks During the year, thematic weeks are organized to focus on different professional fields.
Professional Counseling Students receive individualized professional counseling and guidance before choosing their field of study.
Excellence Program The Excellence program allows the TuaRes girls who show the most interest in and aptitude for classic academic learning to remain on track for university.
In order to be part of the Excellence program, the TuaRes girls must attain high grade average and exam scores.

Get to know one of our newest Sunshine teachers
Vocational School The Vocational School Program prepares students for a vocational career. The students who choose this track embark on a one-year program with theoretical classes and an internship.
Students who choose this track are on their way to becoming employed after their internship.
Technical School The Technical School Program is available for students who perform well in school, and wish to pursue a technical track.
The four-year program consists of theoretical, academic classes and are paired with an internship.
VSLA Groups TuaRes organizes and trains neighborhood groups about how to save money according to the Villages Savings and Loans Association method.
Micro-business Training Parents receive training on how to start and successfully manage a small business.
Dr Anja Hermes Scholarship Each year, students can apply for the Dr Anja Hermes Scholarship, which covers their tuition and gives a monthly stipend during their Bachelor’s degree.
There are currently five scholarship recipients, three of which are studying medicine and two of which are studying English.
